Setting Up Schema Markup

Would you like search engines to understand your content better and show richer results? Botiga includes a built-in schema markup module that adds structured data to your site automatically, with no code required.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through what schema markup is and how to enable it in Botiga.

Before you get started, make sure you’ve installed and activated the Botiga theme on your WordPress site.

What is schema markup?

Schema markup is a set of tags you add to HTML to provide structured data about a web page. This data can include information such as the title, author, and date published, as well as details about specific content types like events, products, or recipes.

Why is schema markup important?

Schema markup helps search engines understand the content on a web page. With structured data, search engines can better judge how relevant a page is to a search query and display more relevant results. It can also enhance how your results look, adding details such as reviews, ratings, and pricing.

How to implement schema markup

Botiga’s built-in module makes this easy. Enable the Schema Markup module from Appearance » Theme Dashboard. Nothing else is needed. Once the module is enabled, all schema markup tags are applied to your website automatically.

Which schema markup does Botiga add to my website?

WooCommerce schema markup

WooCommerce already adds schema markup for single product pages by default:

Here’s an example of how your products can look in the Google search results:

Botiga schema markup

The Botiga schema markup module adds more schemas to areas that WooCommerce doesn’t cover:

Note: This doesn’t mean every page renders all of these schemas. The theme decides when each one is needed. For example, the search results page loads @SearchResultsPage but not @Blog.

That’s it! You’ve successfully enabled schema markup in Botiga.
