Would you like to sell podcasts, music, or recordings in your store? The Product Audio module in Merchant Pro replaces a product’s featured image with an audio player, so visitors can listen right from your WooCommerce product pages.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to configure and enable the Product Audio module in Merchant Pro.
Before you get started, make sure you’ve installed and activated the Merchant plugin on your WordPress site. If you’re using premium modules, ensure you have Merchant Pro installed and active. This feature requires Merchant Pro.
You can embed an audio file from an audio hosting platform or from your own domain. Here’s a product audio file added by Merchant Pro to a WooCommerce product page:
Because the module replaces the featured image, the audio players also appear on your Shop and catalog pages and in product widgets like Related products:
You still need to set a featured product image, since WooCommerce uses it elsewhere, such as on the Cart page. So you’ll upload both a featured image and a product audio to use the module. Here’s where to add the featured image on a product page:
1. Open the Product Audio module
Open your Merchant dashboard by clicking the Merchant menu in the left sidebar of your WordPress admin area. Find the Improve Experience section, then click the Product Audio module to open its settings page.
2. Configure the global settings
On the module’s admin page, find the Settings section and decide whether to enable Autoplay for your product audios:
If you changed the settings, click the Save button in the top-right corner of the page.
3. Enable the module
To activate the module, click the Enable button at the top of the module’s page.
4. Add a product audio file
Once the module is enabled, Merchant Pro adds new options to each WooCommerce product page. Open a product from the Products » All Products menu, then scroll down to the Merchant Product Options section. Insert the URL of the audio file (starting with the https:// protocol) into the Audio URL field. You can also enable autoplay for this single audio, which overrides the global Autoplay option set in Step 2:
Uploading an audio file
To use an audio file from your own computer, first upload it to your WordPress Media Library from the Media » Library menu. Once it uploads, open the attachment and copy the File URL:
Then paste this URL into the Audio URL field in the Merchant Product Options section of the product page.
