Would you like your Add to Cart buttons to say something more on-brand than the default? Merchant’s Add to Cart Text module lets you customize the button labels across your WooCommerce store, both globally and on a per-product basis.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to customize and enable the Add to Cart Text module in Merchant.
Before you get started, make sure you’ve installed and activated the Merchant plugin on your WordPress site. If you’re using premium modules, ensure you have Merchant Pro installed and active.
You can show different Add to Cart text on simple, variable, and out-of-stock products, and set different labels for single product pages and catalog pages, including the Shop page. Here’s an example of an Add to Cart button with the custom label “Drop Into Cart” on a single product page:
On your Shop and catalog pages, display the same label or a different one:
1. Open the Add to Cart Text module
Open your Merchant dashboard by clicking the Merchant menu in the left sidebar of your WordPress admin area. Find the Convert More section, and click the Add to Cart Text module to open its settings page.
2. Configure the global settings
To set up custom Add to Cart labels globally, configure the following options on the module’s admin page:
- Simple Product: Set custom Add to Cart labels for simple WooCommerce products (those without variations such as color, material, or design). The first option customizes labels on the Shop and catalog pages, and the second customizes labels on single product pages.
- Variable Product: Set custom Add to Cart labels for variable products.
- Out of Stock Product: Show a custom label when a product is out of stock.
When the Customize label on single product page option is toggled off, Merchant shows the default Add to Cart label on single product pages.
Once the global settings are configured, click the Save button in the top-right corner of the page.
3. Enable the module
To activate the module, click the Enable button at the top of the page.
4. Customize the add to cart text for individual products
Once the module is active, new options appear on each WooCommerce product page where you can set custom Add to Cart labels for individual products.
Go to Products » All Products in your WordPress admin area, hover over a product, and click the Edit link. Scroll down to the Merchant Product Options section, open the Add to Cart Text tab, and add the labels you want to show on that product’s single page and on the Shop and catalog pages that include it.
Once you’ve added the labels, scroll back to the top of the page, click the Preview Changes button, and when everything looks right, click the Update button to make the changes live.
In the example below, Merchant replaced the global “Place an Order” label with the “Give It a Try” label we defined for this product, while the rest of the products keep using the global label:

Can I set a different Add to Cart label for just one product?
Yes. After enabling the module, open any product, scroll to the Merchant Product Options section, and set custom labels in the Add to Cart Text tab. That product uses its own label while the rest keep the global one.
Can I show different text on the shop page and the product page?
Yes. The module lets you define separate Add to Cart labels for catalog pages, including the Shop page, and for single product pages.
