Want to display a scrolling news feed on your website? The News Ticker widget in aThemes Addons for Elementor lets you showcase your latest posts, pages, or custom post types in an animated ticker bar that keeps visitors engaged with fresh content.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to use the News Ticker widget in aThemes Addons for Elementor.

Before you get started, make sure you’ve installed and activated the aThemes Addons plugin on your WordPress site along with Elementor. This widget requires aThemes Addons Pro.

Activating the Widget

Go to your aThemes Addons dashboard, search for News Ticker, and toggle the widget on to activate it.

Exploring Widget Options

Configuring Title Settings

The Title Settings control the ticker label displayed alongside the scrolling content:

  • Title – Enter the text for the ticker title.
  • Title Tag – Select the HTML tag for the title (H1-H6, span, or div).
  • Title Decoration – Add decorative elements like arrows or diagonal lines to the title.
  • Icon – Choose an icon to display alongside the title.
  • Icon Position – Place the icon before or after the title text.

Configuring Post Query Settings

The Post Query Settings determine which content appears in the ticker:

  • Post Type – Select from posts, pages, or custom post types.
  • Categories and Tags – Filter the displayed posts by specific categories or tags.
  • Number of Posts – Set how many posts appear in the ticker.
  • Order By – Sort posts by date, title, or random order.
  • Include/Exclude Posts – Manually include or exclude specific posts from the ticker.

Configuring Display Options

The Display Options control what information appears for each ticker item:

  • Show Thumbnail – Toggle featured images on or off for each ticker item.
  • Image Size – Select the size for the featured image thumbnails.
  • Show Date – Toggle the publication date on or off.
  • Title Tag for Items – Set the HTML tag used for each post title in the ticker.

Configuring Ticker Behavior Settings

The Ticker Behavior Settings control how the ticker animates:

  • Transition Speed – Set the speed of the transition animation between items.
  • Autoplay Speed – Control how long each item stays visible before transitioning.
  • Enable Loop – Toggle continuous looping so the ticker cycles through items indefinitely.

Customizing Style Options

The Style Options let you customize the visual appearance of the entire ticker:

  • Title Colors and Typography – Adjust the font, size, and color of the ticker title.
  • Background Colors – Set the background color for the ticker bar.
  • Post Title Colors and Hover Effects – Customize the color and hover styles for individual post titles.
  • Thumbnail Border Radius – Adjust the border radius for the featured image thumbnails.
